Work permit for a company and personal work permits

In accordance with Russian legislation, all companies employing foreign citizens need to obtain permits to employ foreign staff. Apart from this, every employee has to obtain a personal work permit. The whole process ending with the issuance of a personal work permit takes approximately 4 months.

Obtaining a work permit consists from two stages: obtaining a work permit for the company and obtaining personal work permits for each employee.

The work permit for a company and personal work permits are valid for 1 year. It is reasonable to start the renewal procedure 4.5 months prior to its expiration, which is actually not much different from obtaining the initial permit.

If within the effective period of the work permit the employment contract with an employee who already has a work permit is terminated or if the company decides to employ foreign citizens to other positions or to employ citizens from other countries to the same positions, it is necessary to obtain a new work permit with a new quote.
